Registration: $40

Join Red State Christians author and Lutheran Pastor Angela Denker for a four-week course that unpacks Christian Nationalism from a theological, pastoral, and journalistic perspective. This course will discuss Denker’s insights from her reporting travel across America in 2018, speaking to ordinary Americans as well as prominent Christian leaders about the 2016 election, politics, and religion. The course will also discuss changes in the political and religious landscape since Red State Christians was first published in 2019, especially examining the impact of COVID, Jan. 6, 2021, and the death of George Floyd. Pastor Denker will bring in real-life examples from her time pastoring a small, rural congregation in Minnesota from 2019-2023, and she will also make time for questions and case studies from participants’ congregations and real-life experiences; as well as refer to companion studies of academic and journalistic studies of Christian Nationalism, including the work of Kristin Du Mez, Andrew Whitehead, Samuel Perry, and Sarah Posner, among others. The themes for the four classes will be Surprise, Warning, Opportunity, and Hope.

Zoom class open to all on September 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 2023 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm Central Time.
