Lutheran School of Theology is pleased to provide a fall 2022 course on preaching for
those needing PMA certification credit and others wishing to refine the skills needed for
effective preaching.
We are delighted that the instructor for the course will be the Rev. Kristen Koch.

Biography
Pastor Kristen has 19 years of experience in ordained ministry,
preceded by a nine-month stint as a volunteer missionary in
Tanzania East Africa. She currently lives in St. Louis and
serves Shepherd of the Hills in St. Ann, Missouri. For fun
Kristen enjoys reading, art journaling, and most recently,
watching “k-dramas” and learning Korean. Kristen in married
to Daryn and they have two teenage/young adult children,
Sophia and Joshua.

Course Description
Participants will develop a framework for connecting with the biblical text in order to
preach good news to God’s people. Through this course, students will gain skills to
engage scripture through prayer and reflection while building a toolbox of resources for
continued growth and support in the discipline of preaching. The class is designed for
current and student lay preachers, for serving and student Parish Ministry Associates
and others who want to develop and improve their preaching skills.
Course Information
Classes will be offered via Zoom on Saturday mornings, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT on
September 10, September 17, October 1, October 15, October 29, and November 19,
2022.
For credit students: In addition to the course work, PMA students in Central States
Synod will complete their practicum requirements per synod guidelines. Registration
