The Gospel According to St. Mark
This three-week class on the Gospel according to St. Mark will examine the major themes in the book as they intersect concerns facing the church and the
world today. In addition to more general explorations, the course will isolate a few pericopes from different seasons of the liturgical year for closer examination.
Instructor: Dr. Tyler Atkinson (M.Div., Duke University; Ph.D., University of Aberdeen) is the former Johan E. Seelen Distinguished Professor of Religion at Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. Having been trained at the intersection of biblical studies, historical theology, and theological ethics, his research interests range from the Wisdom literature of the Bible to the academic discourse on Hip Hop music and religion. After a decade working in higher education, he moved to the Nashville, TN area to pursue a career in music. He lives there with his spouse, two children, and two dogs.
