We invite you to experience a three-session colloquium in womanist biblical scholarship and hermeneutics with Dr. Wil Gafney, Sam B. Hulsey Professor of Hebrew Bible at Brite Divinity School. These Wednesday evening sessions via Zoom will engage a very select group of interpretive readings. Individuals and faith group members who would like to experience this together for future discussions will equally find this to be stimulating and informative.
In response to the assigned readings, participants will articulate their own womanist biblical hermeneutics and where necessary, position themselves to womanism if reading from an accompanying posture of solidarity.
Dr. Gafney is the author of Women’s Lectionary for the Whole Church, Year W and Year A volumes (Church Publishing, 2021), Womanist Midrash: A Reintroduction to the Women of the Torah and of the Throne (Westminster John/Knox Press, 2017), Commentary on Nahum, Habakkuk and Zephaniah (Liturgical Press, 2017), Daughters of Miriam (Fortress Press, 2008) and her work appears in a number of peer-reviewed journal articles or as chapters in books.
